Stuff completed in June
Jul. 2nd, 2009 12:56 pmHere's the stuff I finished off in June.
Video Games
Halo Wars (RTS) - I've only ever finished the first Halo game but thankfully it didn't really matter that much as this one is set before the first game. While the main game was really short it was a lot of fun to play and it controled really well. Defently worth a look if you like games like command and conquer.
Rise Of The Argonauts (RPG) - You control Jason as he sets of on a quest to find the Goldern Fleece and bring his wife back from the dead. This was actully a really fun game, so much so I didn't really care that they played hard and fast with the actual myth. Archilles was a real pain in the butt mind you.
TV Shows
Psych season 2 (comedy, crime) - This show gets funnier and funnier with every episode. Even if you've never seen an episode of this show before you should really watch the first episode of season two for the simple reason that Tim Curry is a god. This season also taught me Lou Diamond Phillips still looks hot topless.:)
4400 season 3 (Si-Fi) - Things are hotting up as tensions between the 4400 and the normals heat up. Now to watch the last season and see how this all ends though I can't see it having a very happy ending.
Anime
Honey And Clover II (comedy, romance) 8/10 - I actully liked this season a lot more then the first one mainly as most of the people I didn't like weren't in this one as much. That said I hated the main pairing as I found it a little creepy to be honest.
Kannagi DVD Special (comedy, supernatrual) 6/10 - The DVd special for the anime Kannagi. It was pretty much in keeping with the tone of the show. The whole thing was very funny even though it made no sense whatsoever.
One Outs (sport) 8/10 - I knew nothing about how to play baseball when I started watching this show but thankfully it did a nice job of explaining what was going on. That said nothing much really happens as such as it really is mostly just talk. Still you keep watching to see just how the main character is going to out smart the other team and his boss.
Soul Eater (comedy, supernatrual) 8/10 - This show really is complete crack and as such I finished it even though I really only liked Death The Kid out of the main characters. I wanted to punch Black Star in the face evrytime he opened his mouth, Maka was ok but she still annoyed the hell out of me for most of the second half of the show.
Still most of the side characters were enjoyable so it wasn't as bad as it could have been and Medusa was really creepy. I think it was her eyes that did me in.
Rec (romance) 6/10 - I didn't think I was going to like this when I started watching this so I was pleasently surprised when it turned out to be quite charming. The two mains were likeable and the secondary characters were also pretty cool which is never a bad thing.
Rec DVD Special (romance) 6/10 - Not a brilliant epiosode but it was still fairly amushing.
X'amd Lost Memories (si-fi) 8/10 - An epic si-fi adventure with lots of mystery and adventure. The animation for this show is beautiful but as it was by BONES that is to be expected. Also had the best self decaption scence I've ever seen.
Higahi No Eden (drama) 8/10 - This was a pretty werid show that keep you guessing as to what the hell was going on. The animation is really lovely and the characters were designed by the person that did Honey and Clover and it shows.
Films
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann: Guren-Hen (si-fi) 7/10 - Having only seen the show recently I didn't really enjoy watching the film that much as I still remembered much of what happened. The added scenes were nice but I wish there had been more of them to make it worth watching for those who've already seen the show.
My Bloody Valentine 3D (horror) 3/4
Black Hawk Down (war, real life) 3/4 - Everyone is in this film. It's crazy how many big names are in this film. That said it was a really enjoyable movie and pretty shocking considering it was based on real events. I found it midly amushing that Orlando Bloom's character broke his back in this movie.
Transformers 2 (si-fi, action) 3/4 -This is probaly an unpopler opinion but I actully really enjoyed this movie.
The Orphanage (horror) 4/4 - This was a rewatch as my husband hadn't seen it yet and I wanted to know what he thought of it. I don't really see this film as a horror at all as there is nothing terrfying about it whatsoever. Also the ending makes me cry everytime.
Books
33. The Twlight Herald by Tom Lloyd (fantasy) 3/4 - The second book in the series and not as much fun as the first one. Not sure if I'm going to continue this series or not.
34. Flesh House by Stuart MacBride (crime) 4/4 - This is a pretty gruesome book and it deals with cannibalism which is never a fun subject. That said trying to figure out who the killer is and just what is going on is fun.
35. The Last Days Of Newgate by Andrew Pepper (crime, history) 2.5/4 - I hated everyone is this book they were all so damn annoying and just damn mean.
36. Patient Zero by Jonathan Maberry (zombies, thiller) 3.5/4 - First of Joe Ledger is my hero. The man is made of awesome, he's so awesome he can kill zombies with his bare hands. This book was made more awesome just by having Joe Ledger in it.
37. Spider by Michael Morley (crime) 3/4 - Another book filled with people I didn't really like but trying to figure out just what the killer was upto was interesting as were the killers POV sections.
38. Afrarid by Jack Kiborn (horror) 3/4 - This is a really creepy book and you need to have a strong stomach to read it as some of the things that happen to people are pretty gruesome.
