Things finished in Septemeber part 1

duowolfI got through quite a few films and anime this month but only one book. *cries* I really hope I do better next month.
Books
Brokem Angels by Richard Morgan (si-fi) 3.5/4 - This was a re-read but it was such a long time ago that I read it the first time that I really couldn't remember much of what happened. A really enjoyable book that makes you think about what the future might hold for mankind.
I'm gonna cut here as there will most likly be spoilers for the films and TV shows I've seen.
Films
Journey To The Center Of The Earth (fantasy, adventure) 3/4 - This was actully a lot more fun then I thought it was going to be. Mainly because it really didn't take itself to seriosly at all plus Brendon Fraiser always makes films more enjoyable by being his goofy self. He always looks like he's having lots of fun making these sorts of films and that in itself makes the films seem a lot better as well. I also liked the fact that they were using the book as a guide to try and find the center of the Earth. Very amushing indeed.
Midnight Meat Train (horror) 2.5/4 - Another film that was a lot better then I thought it was going to be. Vinnie Jones was pretty menacing as the bad guy espically as he didn't say a word and just went about his buisness of killing people. The ending was a little bit silly with the lizard people but it was based on a Clive Barker short story so I was expecting it really.
Repo (horror, musical) 0/4 - I have no idea why so many people like this movie as it was pretty horrid. Most of the acting was shifty as hell apart from a couple of people and the don't even get me started on the awfulness of the songs. *shudder*
Day After Tomorrow (Si-fi, disater) 3.5/4 - Rewatched this one at a friends house. Still enjoyable a second time round espically as I'd forgotten most of what actully happened in the film. The special effects are still really cool apart from the really dodgy loooking wolves.
Dragonball: Evolution (fantasy) - 2/4 - This was one of those films that was just so silly it was actlly quite fun to watch. You could tell everyone had a lot of fun making this movie espically Chow Yun-Fat. Not much like the anime but then I never was a fan of the show anyway.
Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni (horror) - 3/4 - The live-action version of the first Higurashi game was actully a lot better then I thought it was going to be. The actors were all pretty good though they didn't really look much like their characters did and the two younger girls seemed have been aged up a little bit. Still the creepy horror of the whole situation was there even if you know how this chapter ends.
What I found really interesting is that they pointed out at the end of the film that the needle Keiichi saw was actully a marker pen, something you don't find out in the anime until near the end of the first season/begining of the second. Hoping someone will translate the second film soon.
Diary Of The Dead (horror) 3/4 - This one is about what happens at the same time as Night of the Living Dead but about different people. This was a pretty creepy movie even if you know hardly anyone is gonna be alive by the end of the film. The really freaky bit was when they get to the manision and find all the zombies in the swimming pool. *shiver*
Race To Witch Mountain (si-fi, childrens) 3.5/4 - I loved the orginal Witch Mountain movies and this one was just as enjoyable. The cg was really good apart from one part at the end when they are being shot at by the bad guys that was just awful.
Crank 2 - (action) - 2/4 - Another one of those really silly movies. I can't say I really enjoyed it that much though there were some amushing moments. Was mildly amushed that Corey Haim was in this movie, I thought he'd stop acting years ago.
17 Again (Comedy, Romance) 4/4 - I really enjoyed this movie. It was a hugh amount of fun although the girl playing his daughter really can't act very well at all.
Knowing (si-fi) 3.5/4 - I wasn't sure I was going to enjoy this movie but it was actully really good dispite Nicholas Cage's dodgy acting. The set pieces for the accidents were amazing espically the train crash. Not sure what I thought of the ending though I kinda guessed they were angels/aliens from about halfway through. I did like the fact that he couldn't go with them as it made the whole thing a litte more beliveable.
Saw V (horror) 3/4 - The plot thickens as the last memeber of Jigsaws team tries to tie up all the looses ends left from the end of the last film. The people captured this time round were all stupid as anything as it was real obivous right from the beginnig what they had to do to get out of the mess they were in. That said it was only the last two deaths that really made me cringe. The first was the part with the buzzsaws were they had to fill the beaker with blood and the guys arm was almost cut in half and and the second was right and the end when the cop got turned into pancake very slowly and painfully. That was just wrong.
Conspiracy (drama) 2.5/4 - This was one of those guy comes to small town to find friend ends up taking on corrput shieff movies with the same perdictable ending. We called who was going to help him right from the start so there really weren't any surprises whatsoever with this movie. Also I saw much more of Val Kilmer then I ever wanted to see during the shower scene near the begining.
TV Shows
CSI season 9 - (crime) - I really liked the furnal scene at the begining of this season it was really well done. Laurence Fishbourne was awesome as always and I can't wait to see what direction his character goes in and I quite like the other new character as well. I also liked the way the wrote out Grissom's character. It was nice to see someone have a happy ending for a change.
The Shield season 1 (crime) - I wasn't sure I was going to like this show but ti seems pretty good so far. The main characters are all assholes but that's what makes it interesting.
I'm gonna have to make two posted here as they aren't gonna fit into one post with all my ramblings.
