japanese punk music

Ok my boyfriend is looking for Japanese Punk music and I was wondering if such a thing even exists and if so are there any bands you could recommend for me?

Ah ha! One of the few areas I can help with...

There is a lot of Japanese pop-punk, mostly used by anime series, and I don't think anyone western could refer to it as 'punk' after having listened to the old classics (like the Sex Pistols or Morticia's Lovers).

'Ooioo' seem the most common band, closely followerd by the 'Boredoms'. Good luck!
