Went and saw Golden Compass and wasn't really impressed. The cg work was brilliant. The animals all looked real but the editing of the movie itself was horrid. It jumped all of the place and really didn't explain anything well at all. The girl playing the main character wasn't very good at acting either which didn't help much either.
Even as someone who has read the book it got a little confushing in places as it jumped about for no reason what so ever. I really hate to be someone watching it who hasn't read the book.
It was nice eye candy though.

On a side note I brought the graphic novels for both Heroes and The Dark Tower. Also picked up Stardust as Jarv wanted to read it. Have now brought all the christmas presents I need to buy thankfully.

Good thing I didn't go to see it. I was initially just irritated because, okay, Mrs. Coulter is supposed to have dark hair. Pullman is VERY SPECIFIC about this. But I was really looking forward to the CG work and the armored polar bears.

How are Serefina and Lee? And John Faa or Farder Coram?

The CG work is top notch it's just the editing of the movie thats nad. The adult actors all fit their parts pretty well it's been a while since I read the books so some details are a little fuzzy on what people look like.
